OUR MISSION

ONE STEP IN THE WORLD-WIDE

MISSION OF JESUS

SISTER PARISHES

A sister parish relationship is an active, mutual and ongoing commitment between two faith communities to bond together spiritually, culturally and economically. Sister parish involves developing a friendship, as well as a working relationship between two communities and the individual members.

The hope is that this relationship becomes a stepping stone to solidarity and greater exchange in the world-wide mission of Jesus.  A priority is to learn about and understand each other's lives and values.

St. Patrick Church, Hudson and San Jose Church, Yalpemech became Sister Parishes in the Winter of 1998.  This partnership resulted in a visit to Guatemala by three parishioners who met many of the village leaders and their families.  When they returned, it was with deep respect and love for this faith community and the beginnings of an understanding of how we might provide the help that would have a substantial impact on the lives of these villagers.

THE NEEDS

Village leaders have told us that bringing electricity and communications to Yalpemech is a high priority.  This is a difficult task because the village is located more than 70 miles from the nearest city in extremely mountainous terrain.  We need your help to take the early steps toward the sustainable electrification of the village and a form of communication.  Assistance is also needed for a medical clinic, school and parish house.

SUPPORT OUR MISSION

You can help by contributing money, supplies, your time and talent, and letters and prayers.  PLEASE CONTACT ST PATRICK'S SISTER PARISH COMMITTEE CHAIR.
